The highest point of Park Güell - and according to many the place with the best views of Barcelona - is the hill of the Turo de les Tres Creus, where Gaudí had planned to build a chapel so that the inhabitants of the garden city would have a place to pray, but after the remains of prehistoric caves came to light during the works it was decided to make here a memorial place with the three crosses (tres creus) placed on a pile of stones (Golgotha). Two of the crosses indicate the cardinal points (NSEW), and the other one points to the sky.
